Memorization (Juries)

I absolutely positively HATE memorzing. I used to be okay with it, until Juries. For those of you who don't know (if you're even reading this), Juries are when you have to go in front of your teachers and I guess you could say "judges" and perform. Then they'll get back to you on how you did. Well, I have to memorize a monologue, two songs, and a dance. Musical Theater students have the hardest job in my arts school when it comes to Juries and of course I chose that track. I'm pretty happy that I chose it, because I love Musical Theater but the stress is just piling. When it comes to memorization, I'm not very skilled, seeing as I have not a lot of experience with it. It would be humiliating to mess up in front of the entire freshman class of MT and Theater, so I'm hoping I do well *cross fingers*. Okay, done complaining, now for the bright side. I love the songs I'm doing and the monologue. The dance we're being taught on the spot, so I don't know how I'm going to feel about that, probably good, because I love my teacher. I'm comforted that we're learning it on the spot, actually, because dance is my best subject and they won't grade us as harshly seeing as we had nothing to prepare. The song I'm doing is "Goodnight My Someone" from The Music Man, which I have many good memories from and I'm pretty confident with the song already. The other song is Italian and I didn't get to pick it, but I know how to speak Italian which gives me an advantage that I am most grateful for. My monologue is funny, which I like. Seriousness would have been a little more challenging and I wanted to make this less stressful.

Okay, if you have any memorization tips, please, please, please let me know!!
